Frequently asked questions
Is the self-hosted version really free?
Yes. The SDK and server are MIT-licensed open source. You can run the entire stack yourself at no cost, forever. No feature gating, no transaction limits.
What's the difference between self-hosted and Cloud?
Same codebase. Cloud is the hosted version — we manage servers, backups, updates, and scaling. Self-hosted means you run it on your own infrastructure.
Do you take a percentage of transactions?
No. Zirzir never touches your money. Payments flow directly between your customer and the payment provider. We only charge for Cloud hosting.
Can I migrate from Cloud to self-hosted?
Yes. Export your data anytime and spin up your own server. No lock-in, no exit fees. The database schema is the same.
What payment providers are included?
All providers are included in every plan. Telebirr, Chapa, CBEBirr, M-Pesa, and more. No extra charges for specific integrations.
Do I need a Zirzir account to use the SDK?
No. In standalone mode, the SDK talks directly to payment gateways. You only need a Zirzir account if you want to use the server (self-hosted or Cloud).
